Mission NEER UDAY | Bridging Grassroots Needs with Research-Led Solutions

The Jodhpur City Knowledge and Innovation Foundation (JCKIF) is thrilled to share the success of the Need Assessment Meeting held on 18th June 2025 at the JCKIF office, IIT Jodhpur Campus. This pivotal session brought together Sarpanches, village representatives, and domain experts to collaboratively address water challenges in rural Rajasthan under the flagship initiative Mission NEER UDAY.

Key Highlights: • Direct dialogue with Sarpanches and representatives from villages including Osian, Salawas, Mandore, Bhopalgarh, and Baori • In-depth discussions on infrastructure gaps, traditional water systems, and scalable conservation strategies • Insights into current water challenges, existing structures, and past/future interventions • Exploration of community-driven solutions and potential partnerships for sustainable impact

JCKIF extends special thanks to faculty mentors from IIT Jodhpur: Dr. Akanksha Choudhary (Faculty In-Charge, JCKIF), Dr. Saran Aadhar, Dr. Mayank Suman, and Dr. Vikky Anand, for their guidance and expertise, as well as to the village leaders for their unwavering commitment to water resilience.

This meeting marks a significant step forward in aligning grassroots needs with innovation, fostering community engagement, and advancing sustainable water management practices in Rajasthan.



✨ Honoring Rajasthan’s Craft Heritage: Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma Ji Visits JCKIC Handicraft & Handloom Exhibition ✨

The Jodhpur City Knowledge and Innovation Foundation (JCKIF) had the privilege of welcoming Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma Ji, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan, to the JCKIC Handicraft & Handloom Exhibition held at IIT Jodhpur during the convocation celebrations.

The Chief Minister applauded the exceptional craftsmanship of local artisans and recognized JCKIC’s efforts to strengthen traditional skills through innovation, technology integration, and expanded market access.

The exhibition celebrated the rich and diverse heritage of Rajasthan’s crafts, reflecting JCKIF’s ongoing commitment to preserving cultural traditions while fostering sustainable livelihoods. The initiative also aimed to promote locally made handicraft and handloom products from artisans of the unorganized sector, connecting them with wider audiences and giving their work the visibility it truly deserves.




JCKIF Showcases Rajasthan’s Craft Heritage at State-Level Independence Day Celebrations

The Jodhpur City Knowledge and Innovation Foundation (JCKIF), IIT Jodhpur, proudly participated in the State-Level Independence Day celebrations by organizing a vibrant craft exhibition on 14th August 2025 at Ashok Udhyan, Jodhpur. The exhibition was part of the pre-evening cultural program leading up to the 15th August festivities.

The event featured live demonstrations by 20 skilled artisans from across Rajasthan, highlighting the state’s rich and diverse cultural heritage through crafts such as Bone & Horn Craft, Art Metal Craft, Block Printing, Meenakari, Appliqué Craft, Leather Mojari, Wooden Craft, Tie & Dye, Beads Jewellery, and the renowned Salawas Durry.

The exhibition was graced by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma Ji, who interacted with the artisans and showed keen interest in the weaving process of durries, detailed craftsmanship of bone and horn products, and leather work techniques. Artisans explained their techniques and showcased their finest creations.


The JCKIF stall attracted significant attention from visitors and dignitaries including Shri Sudhanshu Pant, Chief Secretary of Rajasthan; Shri Rajeev Kumar Sharma, DGP Rajasthan; Shri Gaurav Agrawal, DM Jodhpur; and Shri Rajesh Goyal, Additional Commissioner Tribal Area Development (Jodhpur). They commended JCKIF’s sustained efforts to empower local artisans and preserve traditional craftsmanship.


Through initiatives like this, JCKIF continues its commitment to empower Rajasthan’s artisans, promote financial independence, and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the state.




अभिव्यक्ति – A Series of Therapeutic Workshops Launched by JCKIF at IIT Jodhpur

The Jodhpur City Knowledge & Innovation Foundation (JCKIF) successfully hosted “अभिव्यक्ति – A Series of Therapeutic Workshops” at IIT Jodhpur, an initiative designed to blend creativity, culture, and mindfulness. The workshops provide participants with a unique opportunity to engage with traditional crafts in a reflective and interactive setting.

The inaugural edition, अभिव्यक्ति 1.0, featured hands-on sessions in Block Printing and Pottery, led by master artisans. A total of 48 participants, including students and faculty from IIT Jodhpur, NIFT Jodhpur, and FDDI Jodhpur, explored the heritage of these crafts, learned techniques directly from artisans, and created their own handcrafted pieces.

Special recognition was awarded for the Best Block Printing Designs, honoring participants who showcased exceptional creativity and innovation. Organizers emphasized that अभिव्यक्ति goes beyond learning craft skills—it is about slowing down, reconnecting with traditions, and fostering well-being through creative expression.


The event concluded with enthusiastic feedback from participants, many of whom shared how the workshop helped them relax, experiment, and discover the joy of handmade art. JCKIF extends sincere gratitude to IIT Jodhpur for their support, to the artisans for sharing their knowledge, and to all participants for making अभिव्यक्ति 1.0 a resounding success. The series will continue with more workshops, promoting a fusion of culture, creativity, and wellness for the community.



Successful Implementation of Skill Development Training Programme PMKVY 4.0: 104 Participants Benefit from On-Job-Training

The Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) 4.0, a short-term skill development training initiative, has achieved notable success by facilitating valuable industry exposure through On-The-Job Training (OJT) opportunities.

The OJT sessions, organized in March 2024, involve daily sessions lasting 6 to 8 hours at participating companies. This intensive training aims to impart practical skills essential for their chosen professions. Esteemed companies such as Rama Reflection India, Johari Digital Healthcare Ltd, Divya Switchgear, and Synco Industries Limited provide OJT opportunities.
