JCKIF Showcases Rajasthan’s Craft Heritage at State-Level Independence Day Celebrations
The Jodhpur City Knowledge and Innovation Foundation (JCKIF), IIT Jodhpur, proudly participated in the State-Level Independence Day celebrations by organizing a vibrant craft exhibition on 14th August 2025 at Ashok Udhyan, Jodhpur. The exhibition was part of the pre-evening cultural program leading up to the 15th August festivities.
The event featured live demonstrations by 20 skilled artisans from across Rajasthan, highlighting the state’s rich and diverse cultural heritage through crafts such as Bone & Horn Craft, Art Metal Craft, Block Printing, Meenakari, Appliqué Craft, Leather Mojari, Wooden Craft, Tie & Dye, Beads Jewellery, and the renowned Salawas Durry.
The exhibition was graced by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma Ji, who interacted with the artisans and showed keen interest in the weaving process of durries, detailed craftsmanship of bone and horn products, and leather work techniques. Artisans explained their techniques and showcased their finest creations.
The JCKIF stall attracted significant attention from visitors and dignitaries including Shri Sudhanshu Pant, Chief Secretary of Rajasthan; Shri Rajeev Kumar Sharma, DGP Rajasthan; Shri Gaurav Agrawal, DM Jodhpur; and Shri Rajesh Goyal, Additional Commissioner Tribal Area Development (Jodhpur). They commended JCKIF’s sustained efforts to empower local artisans and preserve traditional craftsmanship.
Through initiatives like this, JCKIF continues its commitment to empower Rajasthan’s artisans, promote financial independence, and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the state.
